Artists called to submit entries for the Thami Mnyele Fine Art Awards

The town of Ekurhuleni is calling on all art lovers to submit their artwork for this year’s edition of the Thami Mnyele Fine Art Awards.

Registration is open to participants over the age of 18.

The awards aim to celebrate Ekurhuleni artists by giving them the recognition they deserve. The competition encourages preparations of contemporary artistic expressions in the following media:

• Paintings
• Printouts
• Drawings (inks, pastels, gouaches and watercolors)
• Sculptures and reliefs
• Pieces of decorative art, collages, ceramics
• Textile parts
• Digital art and photographs
• Graphic illustrations and posters

Registrations for this year’s edition are divided into two stages:

The first step – This is an online registration or submissions through the Thami Mnyele Fine Arts Awards online portal until August 27 at 4:00 p.m. Interested participants should register using the link: https://tmfaa.ekurhuleni.gov.za.

Second step – This is a physical deposit of artwork which must be couriered or hand delivered from 24-27 August between 09:00-19:00 at Coen Scholtz Leisure Centre, Mooifontein Road, Birchleigh North, Kempton Park.

Applicants will be charged a non-refundable entry fee of R50 per artwork.

If an applicant decides to withdraw their application or not complete the application process, the registration fee will not be refunded.

Entries submitted without payment of the entry fee will not be considered for the competition.

No entries will be received after the entry dates, or outside of the stated times.
