ST. GEORGE – Hedgerow Gallery announces “Flowing,” an exhibition of mobiles and sculptures by Lincolnville artist Antje Roitzsch that opens Friday, August 26 and runs through Sunday, September 11.
Roitzsch is a multifaceted and talented artist. In “Flowing”, she will bring together her recent work of suspended mobile sculptures with garden sculptures, as well as wearable art.
“Flowing” is a way to describe any of Roitzsch’s artistic expressions. From his abstract cement and steel garden sculptures to his peaceful hanging mobiles and even his belt buckles or jewelry, all share a sense of graceful beauty. Inspirations for her flowing organic shapes range from unfurling spring leaves to the swirling water of a bustling stream.
“I think the pieces invite a moment of pause, to breathe and slow down,” Roitzsch said. “By observing the gentle movement of a mobile or the relationship of a sculpture with the surrounding garden, I hope that a moment of peace can invade the observer, leaving them feeling renewed and refreshed.”
Roitzsch will be on hand at the gallery to speak to visitors about his work from 2-4 p.m. on the Friday and Saturday of the exhibition’s opening weekend, August 26 and 27, and again on Saturday September 3.
Hedgerow Gallery is located behind the Hedgerow Market Barn at 8 Ridge Road (corner of Route 131 and Ridge Road) in the Martinsville section of St. George. Like the market, it is open Wednesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit hedgerowdesign.com for more information.
