“The morons who destroyed the sculptures in Stanton Park should be ashamed of themselves”

THE third attack in a year on the impressive wooden sculptures of Stanton Park has appalled and angered Adver readers.

Works by sculptor Darren Tilley, including figures of Neptune and Triton, were favorites with families visiting the beauty spot.

But last week, Triton was again found decapitated and the sea creatures that adorned a fallen tree snapped, burned and shattered.

Here’s what readers have said on our social media about the vandalism…

Marta Bauwow: “Amazing! Stanton Park is a wonderful place. First beehives and now these beautiful sculptures…Why are some people so mean? I’m angry and sad at the same time.”

Matt Scott: “I was so overwhelmed to see this when we were there last weekend.

Lucy Maull: “A lot of angry and discouraged people right now.”

Carol Glidewell: “What did the morons get out of it? I hope someone steals or vandalizes something of theirs in time, maybe a car or something they’re proud of. I bet the parents are so proud of them.”

Alex Robinson: “I think it threatens their masculinity.”

Hannah Bland: “Yeah, we saw that yesterday, it’s such a shame, who would do such a thing?”

Lou Henley: “Who’s done this before and if you’re reading this you’re absolutely disgusting.

It’s someone’s hard work getting people to watch and enjoy the rides, no respect at all you’re a horrible person

Chris Cox: “I went during the week my two daughters were very disappointed and a little upset to see them all broken.”

Marie Peaple: “The time and effort that Darren Tilley put into creating this sculpture for free! For anyone who visits Stanton Park, it’s shameful. Whoever destroyed this should be ashamed of themselves.

Becky Murphy: “It drives me so crazy. What’s the point of doing that. It ruins everyone.”

Sophie Mayes: “I’m so upset. Someone spent hours creating them just for fat degenerates to destroy them.”

Julie Evans: “Why, just why?”

Susan Shewry: “I’m disgusted that anyone can do this.

Sammi Bench: “It makes my blood boil! I hope whoever did this karma will do him good!”

Doreen Dunning: “Some people don’t like pretty things, it’s a shame.”

Liz Dakin: “My grandchildren love visiting Stanton Park and look forward to seeing the sculptures every time.

“Shame on the thugs who destroyed them, hope they are caught and punished.”
